30/3/24 - 500m

Pleasant conditions and a light breeze welcomed our members on Easter Saturday for the 500 metre match. However bright sunshine with some mirage made sighting a bit difficult for some of our scope shooters.

Richard was back to his best form top scoring Target Rifle with 99.10. Phil Milan wasn't quite at his best but still managed a respectable 98.6. After the disappointment of being well beaten by his son, which was mentioned in last weeks report, Dave Rodgers was certainly motivated to turn the tables finding massive improvement to slam in a 96 with 9 centrals. Well done Dave.  Young Brenton was again at the range firing a 47 first stage and was a chance of toppling his Dad but unfortunately did not shoot a second stage.

Alan Seaman lead in F class with a second stage possible and a total of 118.12.New shooter Mike Larson will be enjoying his introduction to the sport as he again performed well and top scored our F Standard shooters with 114.4.

It was a tight contest in F-TR with Grumpy shooting 111.3 from the bench, out scoring Varuna by 1 point only.

23/3/24 - 400m

Conditions appeared ideal for the 400 metre shoot however the sun came out at times creating mirage which was noticed by our scope shooters.

Scores in Target Rifle were a little below what would normally be expected with

Phil Milan again top scoring  with 97.10.  Mark also had a 97 but with less centrals while Don Brook put in a solid 96. It was great to see Brenton Rodgers back on the range and it was a little ironic that he finished well in front of hid dad Dave considering all the practice Dave has.

In F Class Alan Seaman had a great shoot recording 120.10 and with it an 8 point improvement in the F Open championship. Alan leads the 6 shoot championship now only 3 points down with 717.68.

Our F Standard shooters were a little off their aim on the day as a new shooter and potential member Mike Larsen, top scored with 117. This was a good effort from Mike and he was graciously loaned Doug's rifle.

Alexina lead the F-TR shooters with 116.8. This was a 12 point improvement in the championship and Alexina now totals 693.37.

Web site edits.

Hey all we’ve updated our website with an info page about the Disciplines of shooting, have a look, its a work in progress but it might help you decide where to go with your shooting journey.

16/3/24 - 300m

Perfect shooting conditions greeted members for the 300 metre match last Saturday.

Phil Milan made a welcome return to the range top scoring Target Rifle with a double possible 100.10. While Phil picked up 2 points in the championship he still needs one 800 metre shoot to be in the mix for the Championship.

Visiting shooter Michael Moss lead the way in F Standard with a fine score of 118.8 and a clear lead from Warwick, Don and Erin all on 116.

Also compiling a 116 was Varuna, finishing with a possible in his second stage and top scoring F-TR on the day.

Similarly in F Open, Alan Seaman shot a second stage possible to top score with 117.13 while Alan Ashworth continues to make improvement by fine tuning with his new open rifle scoring 116.

Don Law had a great day, after scoring 116 in F Standard, he then fired his Remington Varminter in 308w to score his first double possible 100.12 in sporter/hunter.

9/3/24 - 800M

The clubs 800 metre shoot was held in warm weather with a reasonably strong right cross wind in the early stages. This wind didn't appear to effect results to much as scores were reasonably high overall.

Mark lead Target Rifle with a pleasing 99.10 with Richard 1 point behind with 98.14. Richards second stage was a exceptional, 50 with 9 centrals.

Doug R-H was forced to retire after only 4 shots due to a gear malfunction. Most unusual was the bolt refused to open after firing. After a lot of frustration and the assistance of a cleaning rod the problem was found, a broken shell extractor, broken at the pivot point through the retaining pin hole.

In  F Class Alan top scored with 115.6 while Gavin also did well with 114.8.

Our F-TR members found the going tough with Alexina recovering with a second stage 58 and a 112.7 total.

2/3/24 - Arn Hammond Teams match

The Arn Hammond Teams was fired from 700 metres in overcast conditions with at times a light drizzle.

In Target Rifle our TR-1 team performed reasonably well dropping 2 points only with JR top scoring with 75.10. Richard suffered the worst of the conditions being forced to stop late in his shoot to clean water from the front sight lens.

The TR-2 team was reduced to the minimum 4 shooters and yet combined well for a solid team score. Doug R-H finally sorted some gear issues to record his best for the season with 75.5, well done Doug. Young Charles Cosgrove made his first club team outing, recovering well after an unfortunate start to score a pleasing 70.7.

The Roseville Rottweilers have dominated Target Rifle this season and increased their lead in this match scoring an impressive team total of 300/300.

The clubs F-Standard team had a solid day with Alan top scoring with 89.12 and Erin also shooting well with 89.6.

The Roseville Redbacks lead the F- Standard competition and in this match with only 4 shooters were superb to score 360/360.

The club's most successful team this season to date has been F-Open. It has been necessary to call upon shooters from other disciplines and again they didn't disappoint, with all members recording 89's while our 1 genuine F-Open shooter on the day, Alan Seaman, top scoring with 90.11. The team picked up 4 points on Gosford who incidentally fielded 4 shooters only. With 1 match remaining and that being from 800 metres, Gosford will start with a 3 point lead.

In F-TR Alexina shot well to score 89.10 while Phil Stubbs-Mills showed how well he can shoot when he has good gear, firing 87.4 with Sandy's rifle.
