February 2024
Saturday 24/2/24
Saturday brought cool and overcast conditions, a pleasant relief after the heat and humidity of Friday.
In Target Rifle, Phil and Mark both scored 99.11 while Bill and Richard also scoring 98's but with less centrals. Ironically, they each had a single stage possible but could only manage a disappointing 48 in the other. Doug R-H also shot a nice possible in a practice late in the day.
Erin top scored F class with a well compiled 118.8 shooting F Standard just edging out Alan by the finest of margins, 1 super centre.
David had the highest F Open score with 115.10 while Alan shot a pleasing 60 in one stage with his new 6.5 Creedmore.

Last Saturday the club had a pleasing roll up of 17 shooters to contest the 500 metre match. The weather was warm so it was decided to use the Gazebos for shade however conditions allowed for high scoring.
In Target Rifle, Bill was shot very well scoring 100.10 while Richards good form continued with 99.14 and a 75.10 first stage.
Asghar was in great form firing a personal best 120.14 to top score F class on the day. Conditions suited our F Standard guys with Alan Ashworth also having a blinder with 120.12 while Erin trailed with a credible 119.
David had the highest F Open score with 118.9 plus a fine 90.8 in the15 shot match. Alan Seaman was restricted to 1 stage due to the unusual experience of a broken bolt handle on a Barnard action. Hopefully Alan can obtain a replacement handle quickly.

Saturday 10/2/24
It must have been a tough day for members with scores lower than one would normally expect when shooting from 300 meters. Perhaps the change in the the program with the cancellation of the 400 metre match was unsettling.
Richard was the one exception in target Rifle scoring a solid 97 with an impressive 14 centres.
Scores were also low in F class with Erin leading the way with 112.9 which included a well earned 59.7 in his second stage.
Don Law would likely be pleased with a 97 in Sporter/Hunter division, using his standard hunting rifle in 308 calibre.

Saturday 3/2/24
The 800 metre match was contested in pleasantly warm weather with a light cross wind and mirage from the right.
Richards good form continued, leading the way in Target rifle with a fine score of 99.7 while Bill also shot well with a 98.
After a break from shooting due to travel to New Zealand and the opportunity to brush up on her Kiwi accent, Alexina was in great form top scoring F class with 116.7.
Only 1 point behind and shooting F Open was David with 115.7.
Of interest, Erin was shooting his new Barnard Model S rifle for shooting F-TR. I believe Erin made the decision to ignore the customary barrel run in process and just shoot a regular stage. Considering this was also Erin's first go at F-TR, 112 for the day was a good start.
